Membership
For the Fall 2024 semester, Phi Alpha Theta applications have a soft deadline of Monday, September 30th with a hard deadline of Friday, October 4th.
In both the fall and spring we induct new members into Phi Alpha Theta through an induction ceremony. To become a member of the Tau Beta chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honor society, you need:
- a 3.3 GPA in History and a 3.0 GPA overall. Graduate students applying must have a 3.5 GPA in History and completed 30% of residence requirements for their graduate degree.
- 12 credit hours of History completed, with at least 6 of those History hours taken at Baylor. Up to 6 hours of transfer credit or CBE (AP, Dual Credit, etc.) may count toward the 12 History credit hours requirement. We generally count Baylor Interdisciplinary Core (BIC) courses too!
- to submit a Membership Application (available in the Dept. of History administrative office, Tidwell 104, or online below) and an unofficial transcript (available on BearWeb) by the deadline set for each semester.
- once accepted, a $90 PAT lifetime membership fee is due to the main History office.
Applications should be turned in to the Dept. of History administrative office (Tidwell 104) along with a copy of your unofficial transcript.
