Phi Alpha Theta
The National History Honor Society
Our Mission Statement
We are a professional society whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. We seek to bring students, teachers and writers of history together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication by our members in a variety of ways.
The Tau Beta chapter of Phi Alpha Theta is an active and vital presence in the life of the Baylor University Department of History, serving both as an honor society promoting academic excellence and as a history leadership organization. The Tau Beta Executive Council works hard with the faculty sponsor to create events throughout the year that are both fun and stimulating. If you are interested in joining the Tau Beta Chapter and meet the membership requirements, you can complete an application or come by the Department of History (Tidwell Bible Building Suite 104) to fill out a hard copy. If you would like to apply for a role in the executive council for the fall 2024 semester click on the Leadership Application here for a downloadable PDF, and return your filled out copy to the main History Office in Tidwell 104.
