History Alumni Awards

We are establishing two new Alumni Awards in the Department of History, and we need your help in identifying awardees.
As a graduate or friend of History at Baylor, you are part of a historic family of scholars with roots that date back over a century, when the first degrees in History were awarded. We find Baylor History alums forging new paths in the business world, practicing law and working for justice, serving our country in politics, civil service or the military, ministering to others via the church or non-profit organizations, educating children and adults in a variety of settings, producing knowledge and creative works, and addressing the world’s most challenging problems. We know some Baylor alums with extraordinary achievements, and we want to honor that, as inspiration for our current students.
Beginning in 2025, the Department of History will annually recognize a select group of alumni for their outstanding accomplishments.
Alumni Award Nominations
Alumni Award nominations will be accepted on a rolling basis, with a final deadline of June 1 annually to submit for full consideration. Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged. All nominations will be kept for future consideration. Your nominations ensure the success of our Alumni Awards program, which recognizes our exceptional alumni.
The Awards
Distinguished Achievement Award
This award recognizes professional distinction through outstanding leadership, contributions to the field, and creativity, as well as service to society, the professional community, and the department, college, or university. The awardee should have received either a B.A., an M.A., or a Ph.D. from Baylor’s Department of History.
Early Achievement Award
This award honors graduates (B.A., M.A., or Ph.D.) of the previous 15 years for professional distinction through outstanding leadership, contributions to the field, creativity, as well as service to society, the professional community, and the department, college, or university.
Award winners will be notified during the summer. Both awards will be announced in the Homecoming newsletter and on our social media each fall. Winners will have their name displayed on a plaque housed in the Department of History.
