Meet Baylor History’s 2026 – 2027 Student Ambassador, Piper Ashley
The Department of History is pleased to introduce Piper Ashley, who is serving as the department's Student Ambassador for the 2026 – 2027 academic year. She is a History Major on the pre-law track with a minor in Legal Reasoning and Analysis. Piper will graduate in May 2027 and is already playing an important role in strengthening our community.
Piper became interested in the Student Ambassador position after taking a course with Dr. Barish last semester. At the end of the semester, Dr. Barish encouraged her to apply for the role. Having heard positive things about the position from the previous Student Ambassador, Piper decided to pursue the opportunity.
As Student Ambassador, Piper helps recruit and retain History majors by supporting current students, assisting with departmental programming, and connecting with prospective Baylor students. She sees the role as an opportunity to serve as a bridge between students and faculty while helping foster a strong sense of community within the department. The position has also allowed her to build relationships with faculty mentors and further develop her own academic and professional goals.
Following graduation, Piper plans to attend law school and pursue a career in criminal law. She hopes to work as a prosecutor within felony and special victims divisions.
“I have always had a passion for law,” says Piper, “and my goal is to serve my community by upholding the law, seeking justice, and making sure that all individuals have a voice and can have their stories heard.”
Among her Baylor courses, Piper remarks that 1776 & More with Dr. Sweet has been her favorite history class thus far. The course brought together History and Theatre students to create a performance inspired by the musical 1776. Piper portrayed John Hancock and delivered the show's final monologue, an experience she describes as both memorable and rewarding.
Looking ahead, Piper is especially excited about working with Dr. Barish to develop new events for History students. She hopes these programs will combine education, collaboration, and entertainment while strengthening connections among students across the department. Creating opportunities for community-building and engagement remains one of her top priorities as Student Ambassador.
Please join us in welcoming Piper Ashley as the Department of History's newest Student Ambassador!
