Research Interests
My research interests consist of the history of religion, slavery, and the moral economy of nineteenth-century America. I specifically focus on tensions within reform communities before the American Civil War, particularly abolitionism and connections to broader evangelical thought. My aim is to investigate the range of reformer’s religious beliefs and the effects religious beliefs had on the broader political and social debates during the sectional crisis.
