Academic Interests & Research Narrative

My research examines the cultural and social history of pregnancy between the second and sixth centuries CE in the Mediterranean. In particular, I focus on the dialogues and exchanges between early Christian theologians and Greco-Roman physicians when it comes to maternity, virginity, and healing more broadly. Secondary research interests include Mediterranean magic and the history of plague before the Black Death. I am currently preparing my first book.
