Biography
I was born and raised in Texas, and from an early age, my mother shared her love of history with me. When I was young, she would tell me stories from her favorite parts of history, and as I grew and went through school, we would have lengthy discussions about topics I learned about in class. As an undergraduate, I struggled to find a major that worked me, until I chose history.
I had started studying the Russian language simply out of curiosity when I started at Baylor. But as I gravitated more toward Russian history in my history classes, I found that my language studies enabled me to read Russian sources and more thoroughly pursue the topics that interested me. As I prepared to attend graduate school to pursue an MA and eventually a PhD in history, I knew that my research would focus on Russian history
While some personal and family struggles kept me out of graduate school for a few years, I am thrilled to be returning to Baylor to pursue my MA.
Research Interests
My research focuses on the Russian Orthodox faith among Russian immigrants to the United States and Western Europe. I am particularly interested in the relationship between faith and Russian national and cultural identity.
Why I Chose Baylor
I chose Baylor for its history faculty, strong focus on religious history, and many resources for research on religious history.
