Biography

After graduation from Concordia University, Nebraska, I was blessed to teach a variety of history courses at a Lutheran high school in Minnesota. In both my undergraduate studies and my service as a teacher, I developed questions about the historical relationships between Lutheran theology and educational philosophy, pedagogy, and curricula. I am excited to explore these questions in my research here at Baylor.

Research Interests

I am interested in the intersections of church history and educational history. Specifically, I seek to examine how both denominationalism and secularism have shaped Christian teacher education in the United States during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries

Why I Chose Baylor

I chose Baylor because of the department’s unmatched expertise in the field of American religious history, especially in relation to educational and intellectual history. I am also excited to be a part of Baylor’s Christian academic community dedicated to exploring the intersections of faith and learning in the vocation of scholar.
